Here are the four objects that we need to redesign.

For each object, we'll first look at some classic designs for humans, and then you'll work on a new design for the aliens. We've got some junior industrial designers working on concept sketches—you'll select and refine these concepts through a series of sketches. Or just grab paper and pencil and draw your own!

Alien

The aliens have very different bodies than ours:

  • Their planet has weaker gravity than ours, so they can leap long distances, gliding half a mile or more with their feathery wings.

  • Their three legs are long and springy, to boost them into the air.

  • Their feet have suction cups, and they often use one foot to grip things.

  • Long ago, the aliens developed telepathic abilities, but they retained the ability to speak, because singing is an important cultural tradition.

  • They have four mouths—each can sing a different (octave/part) (bass, tenor, alto, soprano)—so a single alien can sing in four-part harmony.

  • Their ears are large and flexible, rather like parabolic dishes, and are able to hear sounds from far away.

  • They have claw-like hands on their wings, but don't use them to grip—they use their foot-suctions instead. The aliens can also hold small objects in their mouths.

  • They have four eyes on flexible stalks.

Now choose one of the objects above on the left, and start redesigning it for the aliens!
