Leonardo's Workshop: An ArtEdventure with Carmine Chameleon

Wing and airfoil sketches"This is interesting," says Carmine. "These sketches show a modern airplane wing alongside Leonardo's bird-style wing. At the bottom is a diagram of an airfoil—the shape that makes airplanes fly! I think the Wright Brothers invented it in 1903—though they were following in the footsteps of Leonardo and other Renaissance scientists. After all, before the Renaissance, nobody gave much thought to scientific inquiry and discovery!

"Leonardo never did invent a successful flying machine. But this airfoil would really give him something to think about! I wonder what inventions he could come up with after seeing this sketch!

"Good work! What should we do with this sketch?"
