A Lifetime of Color: Study Art

Francois Boucher (1703-1770)
Boucher's Madame Marquise de la PompadourFrancois Boucher was a French artist of the 1700s. He was a Rococco artist, which means he made energetic paintings full of light, rich colors, and swirling curves. Boucher painted many portraits, but he became best known for his delightful paintings of goddesses and nymphs at play. He often painted for French aristocrats, reflecting their own idle leisure in his paintings.
