Analogous colors
Analogous
colors are next to each other on the color wheel. They are closely related because
they have a color in common. For example, blue, blue-green, and green all contain
blue. Red, orange, and yellow are analogous because red and yellow make orange.
Analogous
colors are harmonious and pleasing to the eye. Francois Boucher chose blues,
violets and splashes of red for an elegant, restful portrait of Madame Marquise
de la Pompadour.
